Default Pinging sound from engine

Hello everyone. I just got a 2003 Tundra V8 stepside. I love the truck and while I was admiring it after pulling into my garage (engine off for about 5-10 mins) a loud pinging noise came from the engine.

This happens while the truck is cooling down and is rather loud. I heard this happen on other cars before but never as loud as on my Tundra. Is this normal??? Does it go away??? It sounds like someone lightly hitting a hammer on a piece of metal.

Got exactly the same issue on an '03 Limited with less than 2000 miles on it...sounds like I have gremlins with hammers banging on the pipes.

Might just be the exhaust cooling, but I plan to get a few mechanic opinions on it anyway. I'll keep ya'll posted on my findings.

More than likely. However, it's so doggone loud that I just can't let it pass without knowing for sure.

The pinging is just the metal (probably the exhaust) cooling down.
