Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "remove head to remove exaust manafold?", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Yeah, it is much easier to see the manifold bolts once you have the head out and setting on the assembly table. I can see the logic in that. I always remove the hood and left fender first so I can get to the head bolts easier. - Lee
yes you read that right. the deaker had my truck today and said to me.ya you were right it does have a exaust leak.we have to order a new gasket for it and we should have it tuesday,if the warehouse does not back order it. he also said that it will be a big job if they have to remov the drivers side exaust manafold.ready for this one "the cylinder head has to be removed to get the manafold out" as i was on the phone and was not able to reach out and slap the guy in the head, i just said oh ok. im going to let them do there thing with the gasket first, as the truck is under warranty still and i will see what comes of this on tuesday.oh ya i did mention that my brakes were pulsing after i was driving a long time, well he shruged me off with a ya your front brakes have about 5000 miles left on them.
ok, how does every one instale headers. i have seen many people write that they loosen the motor mount and jack up the engine. removal of the cyl head just does not sound right.
the service guy called me today and said that the regional service rep was in and sugested that thay order a exaust manafold. he said that a few around the U.S. have been cracking, and since i informed them that they dont have to remove the cylinder head to change the manafold, just jack up on the engine they would play it safe and replace the manafold. now to wait for a manafold to come in.
well its not the service writer that is fixing the truck. that would be like yelling at the waitress for the cook making a crappy meal.
but i do see what your saying, i am looking into another toyota dealer in the area to try.
Yeah, but if the I ask the waittress for Ham & Eggs and she puts down P&ss & Vinegar I'm not going to like what the cook delivers. The cook (mechanic) normally do what's written on the order.
