Default Stone Mountain Racing headers for tundra???

Anyone purchase the Stone Mountain Racing headers for the tundra? They are being auctioned off by www.ssautochrome.com .

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2417916390

For $200 it seems a little questionable. But then again, they could be better than TRD or JBA.

I wonder if they are street legal also?

I looked up thier site and they "seem" reputable. I sent them an email. I'll post their reply when they get back to me.

On there site they sell header and a y-pipe for the Tundra. I wonder if the collector has the cone welded into it though to reduce turbulence in the collector.

They look like JBA headers with a nickle plating.

If it's anything like their other headers and mufflers (OBX line),these products are taiwanese-manufactured bootlegs of other companies' designs.

Hey for $200 you've got nothing to lose, but I'd dump those cheezy gaskets and use OEM parts instead.

I've done business with ssautochrome off of E-Bay. I purchased a set of stainless JBA headers and Y-Pipe- both at a deep discount. The headers were factory "seconds". I had to tig weld to repair pin-hole porosity in both headers otherwise both would have leaked once installed. The welds on these headers were ugly. After welding and coating I'm satisfied with their JBAs. For $200 the Stone Mountain Headers may also need some work. I have no complaints with their customer service though, the guy I corresponded with is a straight-up guy.

I purchased from SSAutoChrome before as well. I got the JBA EVOL catback. Customer service and product was/is great.

I got an email back from SSAC and they stated the headers are "Not CARB Legal for California." Damn california restrictions. Oh well.

Just got a set of these stone mountain headers today. I took a couple of pics and posted. I won't be installing for a few weeks though. I could take some install pics for you all if there is any interest?

Definitely post some pics of the install and let us know how the install goes and if you can feel any difference in performance.

How much shipped?

Thanks,
Mike

It looks like the tubes are welded on both sides of the flanges. Is that true? They look a lot shinier than JBA's. What are they made out of? JBA's are 409 stainless.

Dudeboy, yes they are welded on the inside as well, but only on the heavy side. I had a guy that does alot of welding and automotive work take a look and he said that the welds look good. (He is currently doing a frame up build of a 57 chevy with 900 hp, i have seen some pics of the frame and suppension work, rather amazing!) The headers have great workmanship on the bends & welding. I did take a die grinder to the inside of the tubs in a couple of areas that had some extra welding build up. I guess the true eval will be in the install...

Here are the stats off the web for the headers...
100% SUS 304 STAINLESS
GASKETS INCLUDED
BOLT KIT INCLUDED
02 BUNGS INCLUDED
1/2" FLANGE!
( T.R.D IS ONLY 3/8TH! )

JBA's have 3/8" flanges too. You can use the stock studs and nuts with the JBA's, but you may not have enough threads with the Stone Mtn. headers.
