Clutch delays on auto transmission
I have a 2001 4x4 SR5 Tundra. For the last year or so, when I brake moderately hard, the clutch on the automatic transmission takes ten seconds or so to engage. Sometimes it is worse than others. A time or two, I have actually had to put in in reverse and back in to drive to make the clutch figure out what it is supposed to be doing. Typically, if I brake moderately hard, as in rush hour traffic, then press the gas pedal, the engine revs as the automatic transmission has, for some reason, put itself in neutral, in an attempt to down shift. I'm sure part of the problem is driving in this Atlanta traffic, but I'd like to find out if anyone else has experienced this and if anyone thinks this problem may be causing damage to the transmission.
