Default 00 Tundra stalling

I have a 2K tundra which is stalling. The dealer has informed me that I need to replace the entire throttle body. Is this true? Can I clean the throttle body instead?

Or is there a throttle body filter kit I can purchase to repair the throttle body.

Help, dealer wants to charge me 1300 to fix the truck

Thanks

When does the truck stall ? When you come to an idle ?
Any codes ? ( check engine light )
If stalling is just at idle, how does the truck drive otherwise with part or full throttle ?

Without having your answers yet, I suspect you have a MAF issue instead. A dirty MAF ( or defective ) can cause an incorrect airflow reading and affect your fuel delivery. One symptom is stalling at idle when it cannot read enough airflow ( contaminants on the wires is one cause).
For any of the components in the throttle body to be defective, they should cause coding and issues with driving ( i.e. throttle clutch, throttle motor,APPS,TPS).

However if you have an excess buildup of carbon in the throttle bore ( especially if you have never cleaned it) this can affect the air gap with the throttle plate then stalling can occur at closed throttle conditions as insufficient air will pass. This will also cause the MAF to read too little airflow. Pull the intake tube off at the throttle body inlet and take a look for black crud. Won't hurt to clean it and the MAF before submitting to $ 1300.00

There are a few tutorials on cleaning posted on this forum.

thanks Volt....

I read a few threads on cleaning the throttle body inlet and MAF. I will try this before submitting to the dealer.

Thanks

I had a very similar thing happen. When sitting at red lights it would stall. It was a very small buildup of carbon around the intake. It keeps the throttle open just enough to let to much air and not enough fuel.
There are throttle body cleaning instructions on this site.

Good luck
