Default Starter on the 2003 Iforce V8

A buddy said that he heard that the starter on the 2003 IForce V8 is in the engine comparment area, I guess he means that it's real exspensive and hard to change out. Can anybody help me out with the right information? Thanks

hmmmm.... I think I would take it to a shop. If your unsure where it is, your better off taking it in.

It's underneath the intake manifold, which has to come off, along with the throttle body, to replace.

Not a hard job, just a slow one.

Thanks for the info. I was not going to try to replace it, just wanted to know where it was. I can see it will not be a cheap repair, if and when the time comes. So far not a problem with anything!!!!

One of my friends where I work at is an industrial/automotive mechanic and when his 2000 tundra starter went, he took it into the shop after finding out where the toyota geniuses put the thing.

He is correct.
The starter is underneath the intake manifold. You have to remove that to get to it. Including replacing a couple of the gaskets that need to be replaced once removed.
