Default supercharged auto transmission?

Will adding the supercharger on a v6 with auto transmission cause any damage to the tranny? I read somewhere on other vehicles this was a problem, but wonder if that would be the case with the Tundra. Any thoughts? Thanks

I can tell you yes. I had a Toyota Tacoma V6 PreRunner V6 and put the blower on it. All was good up to around... 38k mikes, then my 1st to 2nd shift felt.... "slow" and it was slipping. I took my truck in SEVERAL times and EVERY time I got a different answer. I was told the last time to " drive slower". Well.... at 72k miles and well out of the warrenty, I took it BACK to the place and guess what.. they told me I had bruned up 2nd clutch pack. So, I told them that since I had taken it is 5 other times on the same issue, it would be covered. After a lenghty discussion with toyota, they decided to replace the tranny. I got a new tranny and torque converter. I paid for labor only. So, the 1st thing I did was to pull the valve body and ship it to Level10. Pat put a "shift kit" mod in it, and vola! No more problems! So, I called Pat and since I have a 2001 Tundra 4x4 Limited, and I am getting the S/C soon, I wanted to INSURe the problem from happeneing again. Yes, a shift kit can be put on the Tundra tranny, and YES it is the same tranny (essentaially) the electronics and clutches are more, but the body is the same. Anyway.. I will have a shift kit done again. I HIGHLY reccomend it. It is $698.00 and worth every penny.

I had a 2001 Tacoma V6 4X4 manual tranny with the TRD supercharger. After 5K miles, my clutch started to slip. Thing of it was I never got onto it hard off the line. I would only go WOT after my clutch was fully engaged and I had started moving. My mechanic said auto transmissions and manual clutches are designed aroud certain HP for the engines. When you add a supercharger, you exceed those specs. This is exactly why I didn't put the s/c on my wife's 4runner when I sold my Tacoma.

Thanks for the help guys, gotta love this site for all the knowledge and help. Think perhaps I'll keep it simple for a while then and just do the FIPK, That and see what the 2004 is like and step into the V8 this time.
