Default Oil Pressure Gauge

I just completed my first oil changed on my new truck following the DIY instructions which were great. But now I'm not sure if I everything is ok, after doing the oil changed I decided to watch the oil pressure gauge for the first time. When my truck is in idle the gauge sits a hair below half on the gauge, which seems normal but when I accelerate I see the gauge rise. When I hit it hard the gauge will rise to about 3/4 and when I'm just cruising it is at the half way mark. Is this normal? I have no leaks after my oil change and used a Toyota filter, Mobile 1 5w-20 and replaced all the 0-rings.

Default Re: Oil Pressure Gauge

I'd say that's about right different brands (synthetic versus dyno) of oil will give different oil pressure from what I've noticed.

Default Re: Oil Pressure Gauge

The oil pressure gauge in your new Tundra is actually not a dummy gauge. You will see in the early morning that the pressure is higher when the oil is cold. You will see all kinds of variations if you pay attention to the gauge.

I actually like that the gauge moves around a bit.

You are find and this operation is normal.
