Default Question about Tundra exhaust

What is the sweet spot for the Tundra V8 when it comes to exhaust? I mean performance over all....

My setup is a true dual with an h-pipe running Borla mufflers with 2.25 pipe and no headers.

What combo is the best?

1. headers with single exhaust with a performance muffler and what "?" size pipe

or

2. headers with true dual with performance mufflers and and what "?" size pipe. Plus with duals is it best to use an x-pipe or h-pipe.

I just want to get the best over all performance out of the Tundra engine.

Thanks for any info on this,

Kevin

1) 2-1/4" or 2-1/2" pipe (bigger if you want to shift the power to high rpm range).

2) Duals with 2" pipe and x-crossover.

No advantage with duals over a correctly sized single. The advantage of duals is smaller diameter mufflers for ground clearance...usually not a problem with a truck.

nelvek...

Can you tell me what you noticed from this system. That is real similar to the system I'm about to install.

Any gas mileage gain / power gains that are noticable since going to dual 2 1/4?

Thanx
Kevin

Verndog,

I didn't see a mileage increase but the power gain is on the higher end of the rpm scale. It's not a lot but you can tell it picks up speed a bit faster after about 70 to 75 mph.

This is the reason I posted my question because I seem to have lost a little low end grunt. This setup runs good and sounds good but I think I need to fine tune it a bit more to get my low end back. Plus I've been running this way for about 4 months now.

I'm thinking of scrapping my exhaust system and starting over from the heads back. I want to install TRD headers with true duals using an x-pipe and 2.00 pipe with performance mufflers and performance cats. I'm hoping that this setup will give me the best performance from low end to top end.
