Default Serpentine Belt Tensioner - Replace

This is in an 02 4.7. Has anyone ever tried to remove their serpentine belt tensioner without removing the two pass side timing belt covers?? My Haynes manual is telling me that you can just remove the 4 nuts and bolts and it will come out. Obviously this would save a lot of time and work, not having to remove all the stuff the TSB calls for like the radiator shroud, fan, fan clutch, etc., etc. But I'm having a hard time believing it. On the new tensioner I have it looks like there's a lip around the edge that the timing belt covers sit on, making it impossible to pull the old one out and especially to get the new in under those covers. Anybody know?? Thanks!

If I recall correctly you will need to remove the Passenger side timing cover as the cover dose ride in that grove you were mentioning. The timing cover comes off very easy not hard at all. should a doable DYI job for most.
