Early Tundra Engine Oil Dipstick FYI

Went to the dealer to pick up my new, longer 6.5 qt. dipstick, armed with the campaign notice.

Learned that dealers are not involved, replacement dispticks are being mailed directly to the owners. Had to call Toyota in CA to update ownership of my vehicle and the dipstick is on it's way.

Was pleased with the response from Toyota, very polite lady answered the call.

got that number handy? dunno if it was ever done for my truck or not...(i rarely use the stick, just measure out the oil...)

Owner's of record were supposed to be notified back in October 2001. The campaign is available to owners until October 31, 2004.

yeah, they sent it to my old address, even though they were sending my bills to the right address ...they were cool about sending me another, tho.

I have a 00 tundra and mine was not part of the Campaign.

I guess they got it right before I got mine.

Approx 92,000 Tundras were affected. The Campaign info available in the Service Bulletins Database outlines the VIN range that could possibly have the wrong dipstick.

So you just call this number above and give them the "Reference Campaign" number then I should get one. I brought my truck to the dealer a couple of years ago and pulled my truck's oil dipstick and compared it to the 2001 oil dipstick and you could tell there was a difference but they said that they could not do anything for me without a TSB. Man, I should have swapped dipsticks without them noticing it when I compared the two! Up to this day I still have not received the replacement.

i called that number and the woman with a attitude told me my 2000 tundra was not within the tsb. well i showed it to my dealer
the bad dip stick and he got me one for free.

the new dipstick is only about 1/2" longer. i'll check the details later on, i have both now. that lady on the other end was smokin' the silly weed ...some people have good experiences at that number, others dont...both times i called, the guys were really helpful, if not as resourceful as each other...

As far as I know there is no TSB for this oil stick problem. Yes, there is a problem but it has not turned into a TSB.

Correct it is not a TSB, but is a Toyota initiated Limited Service Campaign. For details see LSC-10M 2000 Model Year Tundra V8 - Oil Level Gauge Service Campaign in the Service Bulletins Database.
