Engine Timing Belt.

When do you change the timing belt on a V-6 2000 Tundra. My dealer says every 60,000 miles. Whats the story? And when do you change that in line fuel filter? My dealer says unless you have a very serious fuel problem you should never have to change that filter. Thanks fella's. COAL MINER in N.J.

the package on the inline fuel filter i recently purchased said change every 10k. i figure theyre nuts and looking to move a little more product, as i noticed little difference changing my inline filter at 80K, plus its a pita to change out. "never" and "ever" both sound like good intervals there

. ive heard the same thing from mechanics as well.

i thought timing belts were 90k items?

90,000 miles on the timing belts on both V6 and V8. The V6 is not an interference engine...if the belt breaks, you stop, you don't trash the engine. The 4.7L V8 IS an interference design. If the belt breaks, the engine is junk.
