Default TRD FILTER

Yes, i have had the TRD filter in since day 1 also
NO engine lights and no problems.
My bosses truck had a K&N cold air intake and filter, it set all sorts of codes, we removed it
then he only had a K&N filter,(stock intake box) it also set off the check engine light
we removed it
Now it has a TRD filter- No problems

Every TUNDRA that i have had to work on that has a K&N filter, has ALWAYS caused the check engine light to come on.

K&N is a good filter, I have one on my mustang (race/show car)
(Holey carb).
The K&N looses to much oil, and has to much air flow, that drags the oil with it into the mass air flow sensor.

Take care
Victor

My brother in law has an eclipse that he is running steadily 20 psi or more. The turbo he is using is definitely sucking in more air than our trucks are. He uses a single K & N conical filter. He has had no problems with the filter losing the oil out of it or the sensor's being fouled. I believe it might be people are over oiling the filters before installing them...........

Default A/F

I assure you, the K&N's we have experimented with have come straight from K&N, we even cleaned a few , and oiled them as per instruction, and let them sit overnight to fully be absorbed, to make sure there would not be any excess oil. NONE OF THEM WORKED PROPERLY>ALL OF THEM CAUSED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WITHIN A WEEK OF USAGE. SO they must be over oiled from the factory?ALL of them ?? I highly doubt it.
K&N's just dont work well in TUNDRA's.
I am not going to get into a argument, this is what we have found. And over oiling has been definatly ruled out for us. They flow to much air for tundras.
NUFF SAID> CASE CLOSED
There are other threads on this subject, for people who wish to debate the usage of K&N's and othe cold air intake systems.

My first milage report with my blower on was 9.98. I guess I was on it too much. I hope it gets better from here.

with trd filter headers s/c and exhaust I average about 12-14 miles a gallon. My low fuel light comes on around 280-290. And the truck is a 4wd. I have a question for fellow s/c owners, does anyone have trouble with there starter?? Or does anyone know the reason, My starter misfires alot!

I don't have that problem but the 2003 has a different starter system that the 00-02. You don't hold the key in the start position until it starts. You simply click it once to the start position and let go, the truck tries to start itself until it fires or until the 30 second timer runs out. It's almost like a push button starter.
