Yes...if there are no objections I will submit for group buy approval...BUT...as I said there is indeed a problem with dyno and Jack asked me to pull it. The gains are correct....but the peak torque is way off!. I talked to him and something to do with gear used....and he will correct!

Where'd the dyno go? It's "no longer in the database" anymore... I didn't even notice the peak torque being weird. Does that mean that you don't actually get a max of 21.6 or that the total torque, not that gain, was too high?

Guys....I pulled the dyno per request of Jack. Yes the peak torque was way off and at 5000 RPM and should be at 3400 RPM...plus it was low!. Reason is...per Jack, they have a new Dyno and sofware compensation for automatic tranny is not setup yet. The GAINS are correct! But the torque curve was wrong because of software issue. He has to pull the truck back in and re-run because of this.

But the gains look good. Another issue that just came up....he said if anyone wants their cruise control to work they would need a seperate module...I told him I thought pretty much everyone would want it. I think its standard equip...and couldn't imagine anyone not wanting it.

Yeah I think everyone will want that. Any idea of cost for that unit?

You can count me in on the group buy for a 2003 PnP harness. My only question would be can I get the 2003 harness and an unprogrammed unichip? Jack had emailed me before with a local dyno shop which was qualified to program the unichip. I would like to get an unprogrammed unichip with the 2003 PnP harness so the chip can be tuned to my specific mods. Jack had told me a person would spend $100 less for an unprogrammed unichip but you would have to spend $150 for the dyno. I'm sure there are others out there who would be interested in getting their own dyno and programming as well.

Default Cruise Control

I find it strange that the PP will not work with Cruise Control, mine works fine without the PP and nothing was mentioned to me when it was setup.

Default Tuning?

How much more tuning will I need to do with the existing mods that I have? The numbers look really good.

Ya...I posted that right after getting of the phone with Jack...it may be a false alarm...and only apply to older vehicles...(pre Tundra 4.7L).

That still will be determined by the vehicles they get with following units that get setup...and what they have. Just 3 different options like headers, cat back, and intake add up to many combinations for mapping....so likely that will be the limit of the mapping besides SC.

Question Help me understand...

I see some contradictions in what was posted. Help me understand what the real gains are (which I'm sure will be more clear once the new dyno results are in):

Jack says:
Quote:
"The stock numbers are about 10% below Toyota’s claims, but that’s what our dyno showed for this particular truck – our dyno tends to be a bit stingy. Peak gain was 21.6 ft-lbs/16.4 bhp (12.4%) @ 4000 rpm and gain at peak was 4.4 ft-lbs/4.3 bhp (2.0%) @ 5000 rpm."

Verndog says:
Quote:
"There needs to be a correction for peak torque...I pulled dyno because Jack said there is a possible issue with gearing and peak Torque coming at 5000 RPM."
and

Quote:
"Guys....I pulled the dyno per request of Jack. Yes the peak torque was way off and at 5000 RPM and should be at 3400 RPM...plus it was low! Reason is...per Jack, they have a new Dyno and sofware compensation for automatic tranny is not setup yet. The GAINS are correct! But the torque curve was wrong because of software issue. He has to pull the truck back in and re-run because of this."
OK so is the PEAK TORQUE GAIN at 5000 (what you reported), 4000 (what Jack originally reported) or at 3400 RPM (what you're reporting now)? I think it's at 3400 and you have a typo above. e.g. You meant to say 4000 RPM as Jack reported but instead you said 5000 RPM???

So, if the gains are correct and the torque curve (and peak?) moves to the lower RPM band (~3400) this is excellet news. Please confirm...

Thanks!

Jim.

Default to much misinformation imho

cant say i have any better idea now than i did befor about unichip gains -to be honest i am lost. the dyno is off ? the gains are true but the rpm is wrong ? im no dyno expert but this sounds like bs to me. The proof will be in an independent befor and after dyno baseline. can jack explain the problems with this dyno he's using? I belive there is more to the picture than whats being said on this thread. why dont we invite jack onto the board to give some sort of progress report.
