I wrote to Jack and asked him for an update on the progress of the Unichip. Specifically, two items.
1. The status of the S/C 4.7L V8 "program".
2. The Wire harness status.
Here is his reply!
Scott,
Basically no movement since the last time we talked. We've had just a bit of a delay with getting moved into our new building, and I've basically decided doing R&D while we're moving is too ambitious. We've scheduled a truck in next Tuesday 9-9-03 to do the harness prototype.
Although we don't have the "production" map for the S/C 4.7L, we've done several of them and that part we already know. The Unichip works wonderfully on that application, and the last truck we did went from 376.2 bhp to 434 bhp at 5500 RPM and from 406.4 ft-lbs to 450.2 ft-lbs at 5000 rpm.
I'll certainly keep you apprised of how things are going... believe me, I'm just as excited about things as you are.
Cheers,
Jack
SO.. needless to say.... WOW! I am READY! Bring it ON!
As I find out more, I will share.... as always!

I am dead ready for it. Has he mentioned cost? I bet it's pretty pricey. I wonder where he got the 376.2bhp from? Sounds like a lot for a Tundra. He must measure from the flywheel.

It was flywheel readings.. and that is ok... just reduce by about 20% and that is ballpark RW.... He has mentioned $$$ to me, but I was told not to say anything here... so... you can call and ask too!

That's still 302rwhp. It must be with the SC. I only get 274rwhp with the SC. Still interested though.

Yea.. those numbers were from a bone stock 4.7L V8 with a bone stock S/C installed... I am guessing that if the Unichip can utilize larger injectors, then I CAN put a FULL FIPK or like on the system, add the over size pulley, RUN 13psi and make a LARGE amount of HP over those numbers!
I am guessing.... based on that... 330CC injectors, and a FIPK and 12psi..... properly tuned.... ballpark..... 410+rwhp?
Makes you think huh?

Holy crap! Yeah it makes me think. What do you think the injectors are gonna run you?

Well..... it won't be cheap.....
It is of course AFTER I get the Unichip.. installed.... tuned.. and running... THEN... I will investigate.....
It is a back of the mind idea.....
Not a cheap one!

Even for a non S/C 4.7L the Unichip can alter timing, fuel map and shift points. It can extract the max... when properly tuned... from either a blown or N/A engine...

How much tuning do you think these will require? What tuning steps do you think we will need to take? I'm not familiar with the unichip so forgive my stupidity.

There's no way one of us could tune the Unichip. You take it to be professionally installed at a Unichip dealer. They put your truck on a dyno and set all the different parameters using a special tool.

Very cool. I'm sure I will be hell bent trying to find a unichip distributor in New Mexico.

To sell them, I think you have to be an authorized dealer. What I don't know is if his shop is open to actually tune them. I'm pretty sure there are others in Texas tho. The easiest thing to do would be calling Dastek or The Racer's Group. Dastek is the manufacturer, and The Racer's Group was the US distributor (the link on Dastek is down so I don't know if they are anymore).
