Question Rear axle extension?

I just got my truck back from camburg, and the front is 3.5" wider each side, I was wondering if anybody had done a similar thing with the back? I think it would look a lot better.

I'm sure you don't have any money left, but your best bet to match the capability of the front would be to get a HD rear axle and a 3 or 4 link setup. People like using ford 9"s, dana 60's, or custom billet rear ends. If you did this, you could probably get a bit wider rear, but you need to run rear glass. Also, with a new axle, you can get your gears, locker, and rear disc brake upgrades all at the same time. Let us know what you think of the kit.

or a cheaper way would be to run wheel spacers. what kit would you use for your disc conversion? rear sequioas?

I don't like wheel spacers. They provide your tire with more leverage to rip off your wheel studs. You don't need a kit for disc conversion since you will be using a custom axle. Here's what you need, stage II (drum) or III (disc):

my dream would be a 4 link rear with coilovers, ford 9 inch width to match the front, custom 6 lug to match the front, disk brakes, 40 spline axles, spool!

will that work for you? oh ya, i hate wheel spacers, had a friend use them and he ended up replacing his rear disks, calipers, wheel, and brake lines, spacers suck!!

all depends on the quality of the spacers, also gonna depend on the float config of the rear axle, tundras and tacomas are semi-float. anyway, www.aor4x4.com has some beefy spacers, so does www.offroadsolutions.com . also, protrux sells a smaller pumpkin, stronger toyota-like axle for the rear, custom built--it's just the shell, you get to add perches and brakes etc. a d-60 shell is some serious weight and lack of clearance, to be avoided if possible...you can get a nearly equivalent strength from that toyota-based custom axle and crmo shafts, with a full-float conversion so you don't trash a hub and a halfshaft all at once when you break something. there's info on the sas threads about strength, that's why joe is using a d44 rather than a d60 (price, too), and there's more info on pirate4x4.com, doesn't matter if youre crawling or running, it's the same components.
