Default SS Autochrome Headers Installed! Part II

Everything Bomber says about the install is dead on. It took two very experienced shade tree mechanics six and a half hours for the install. The two bottom nuts on each side ARE the hardest to remove. We used four different tools to remove them. The cat connect bolts did not give me much of problem. I think it's because the truck is still very new and the nuts did not have time to lock in place.
The stock pipes that came with the truck are total junk, threw my old ones in the trash. Now I know why everyone has cracked manifolds. I highly suggest replacing them with some kind of header system. You will be very pleased with the outcome.
The powerband on my truck before the header install began around 3400 rpm, and the supercharger boosting to 5 psi. With the headers it now begins at 3000 rmp and really gets on it around 3400 with the SC peaking at just over 5 psi. The quality of the SSAutochrome headers is more than what you would expect for the price. I paid $142.00 on ebay with $19.83 for shipping. I did notice that the starting bids on ebay for the same system are now $150.00 plus s&h.
Making every effort to avoid the placebo affect, the truck is more responsive at lower rpm than it was before and It is definitely producing more HP. Let’s see how the computer adjusts...

Who cares? I don't care if they are made by Charlie Brown and sold by Snoopy, they are great headers for a great price.

We used a medium and a deep 14mm socket with 3\8ths and 1\2 inch socket wrenches with lots of different extensions. We did not have much luck with the universal adapter. You lose too much torque. I don't know the name of one of the tools we used. It was like a ratcheting closed end wrench. It was the life saver.
Take off your stock nuts carefully, that way you can use them on the new headers. We did not round a single one.

Thank you both for the pics. Last question, were the headers the "new" ones with the corrected O2 bung?

No, mine are wrong. I was one of the first - installed the same weekend as Bomber...
I also paid more than you all did... Some times it does not pay to be the early bird!

Mine were the old ones as well but I did not have any trouble with the O2 sensors. I have been driving the truck kinda hard since I installed the headers and can tell you that they have added HP. I will dyno the truck again next week and see what I get. The truck is a little bit louder as well. It has more of a deep growl.

Torque seems a bit low for a supercharged engine!
