Default Something for us V6'ers to drool over

Check my photos for pics also www.nw4runner.com

Well this is a custom Procharger w/ intercooler set up on a 5VZ 3.4 V6 4Runner it cost him 15gs to do everything imaginable to the motor including a FULLY PROGRAMBLE ECU. He is runing @15psi w/ 75 Shot of nitrous making 500 hp and 450 TQ w/ the nitrous. So all we really need is the custom mounting/pully assembly lets start calling Procharger to make a kit for the V6. Altogether a custom setup would cost between $2500 to $4000 which is the average price for a procharger kit for other truck and cars. With 8psi ,fuel upgrades/controller and intercooler, headers/exhaust we could be making 300+ hp just from this setup.

Thats pretty cool, but 15K is almost as much as my truck cost! If Id had 30K to spend, Id gladly get a V8 tundra with a blower!

Got a email from Steve Cobb owner of www.F2uning.com and he said he can make the custom mouting plate for the ATI Procharger for $300(thats what he told me in the Email) but the only problem is that he might need to test fit one in a Tundra. Anyone near Dalton Gardens ,ID want to be the the beta tester.

I am still considering this as an option for my Tundra but I saw STS turbo kits so I MIGHT go that route or just be safe and get the TRD S/C and URD Kit.

Where have you seen the turbo kits? Are they proven to work on the 3.4l V6? I'd sure like to see more on that as well...

Thanks - Jeff

I talked to the guy at STS and he said he could fab up a turbo for the V6 Tundra using a combination of Tundra and Tacoma parts for around $3500. Go to their website and shoot him an email hes very inofrmative.

Thanks for the info Guys! That's actually cheaper than the TRD S/C but a completely different effect...

Now - refresh my mind for me about Turbo vs. S/C:

As I understand it, Turbo requires RPMs and Boost to increase before it kicks in and provides power, while the S/C is instant? Am I way off here?

Thanks - Jeff

Sorry, but that still isn't cheaper than the TRD SC. At least not the V6 version. They are being constantly sold for $1700 $1750 brand new sealed box. There are a couple different dealers/sellers on ebay that pretty consistently listing them. I just recently did that for $1750 shipped with a Toyota receipt. Another $360 for dealer installation $2110 total cost, no affect on warranty. I can't say what the turbo would be like in comparison for power though.
I guess it depends on what you're after. Myself, I just wanted more power back after getting bigger wheels, mounting a ladder rack, starting to tow a utility trailer that I hadn't planned on when I first purchased my Tundra. It did that quite well indeed at what I thought to be a pretty good cost.

$1750 on ebay? You didn't get hosed by the seller?

I've had good and bad luck on ebay - guess it's a gamble any way you look at it, but right now I don't have the $2K to gamble with anyway.

Nope, didn't get hosed. There are 2 sellers, dealer connected, rangerob05 and flt-parts that are pretty consistently listing these both with top notch feedback. I know what you mean about ebay though, caution is the key I guess, I see lots of rediculous things going on there. I got my SC from rangerob05 without a problem, I also got an auto dim/compass mirror from flt-parts without a problem, and he has been listing SCs also. Both are great sellers.

As for this turbo setup, it does sound pretty good, I've been reading on the STS posted in here for the V8, and apparently it will make more power on the V8 than the SC.
