Question What kind of muffler does the TRD exhaust use?

Does anybody know? I'll bet they don't advertise but does anybody know?

Straight through glass packed like a Borla or JBA muffler.

Do you think that they have one custom made for TRD or is it some sort of off the shelf part made by another company? Thanks for the info so far though.

Doesn't look like a Borla, the design of the endcaps look a lot different on a Borla. The muffler sure looks a lot like Magnaflow's case design.

i was just gonna say that. If you compare the casing on Magnaflow and TRD, they look very similar.

Here is a portion of a email from Borla Sales that comments that the TRD exhaust is made by Borla.

This thread is a good one I think to pose a question I've been thinking of for a while, but never asked so here goes...

Has anyone tried replacing the TRD dual exhaust muffler to gain more of a throaty sound from it without losing those high quality pipes and tips that are part of the TRD duals. I have been thinking of looking into doing it, but am unsure of how successful a mod that would be. I'd want something that would be a direct fitment for the TRD muffler without butchering the whole system.

I'm pretty happy with the TRD duals just wish they were a tad louder at times...

An old member named Flyin6 replaced his TRD muffler with a Flowmaster muffler and still kept the pipes and tips. Go to a reputable exhaust shop and see what they can do for you.

Another thing you might think of is adding headers. They make the truck louder and add performance. I have the TRD duals and headers and the truck has a nice rumble from about 1900 rpm all the way to red line.
