Default K&N AirFlow Kit?

I run a stock V6 PreRunner DB but would like some more HP but am not willing or interested in changing out the entire system. The most I am willing to do is get a K&N Kit that changes out the intake box and filter or something like that. The dealer said it should add about 10-15 HP but by the time it travels through the engine and makes it to the rear wheels it will be more like 5 HP. Is this going to be worth my money? $314.00.

Thanks,
PS1

If you read Gadget's site you'll see the K&N FIPK actually loses power at most RPM's over the stock design, at least on the 3.4. I have the FIPK on my tacoma currently and I can feel some real nasty holes through out the power band. So I have bought a stock setup and plan to do Gadget's deck plate mod. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have heard bad things about the deck plate mod. I have an Injen cold air intake system and love it. Only cost about $200. Honestly though you are not going to be able to tell the difference unless you get up in the rpms. And we drive trucks, my dad's NSX made a HUGE difference with a cold air intake, but it should respond better the motor is higher performance. Just my 2 cents.

I just had a couple of friends from the LATTORA that have done it. So I talked to them cause I was considering it. The just informed me that their gas milage went down and the could find no improvements. Now they have fixed it back to stock. I just figured I wasn't going to cut up my stock air box for those results.
