Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Big Toyota Motor", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
trdkeau is right that is quiet weak for a v12.the supra engine would completely blow that thing out of the water
I would agree, however look at the tourque! And although that's what they say it has, doesn't mean that what it can do. Rumored for the next Supra with 500 hp!

If it displaced oh, maybe 450 or so cubic inches then it would be a world beater.

um 350 torque, i beleive u mean 315 trq for a stock tundra.
And what about a world beater?
ah correct its 315 my tundra has 350 from exhaust and intake.yahtzeee but if u ask me its still a waste of money to spend just to get 40 more horses.if u want a engine swap be like team venom and get teh supra engine and twin turbo it or get the 358 block like the craftsman truck series tundra.

Excerpted from the website: "Like other powerful Japanese engines, it is voluntarily bounded to 280hp, but accompany with astonishing 355lbft of torque."
This is done because the government there imposes limits on vehicle sizes and power. From what I understand from having lived there, the taxes are very high if you exceed these limits. I could be wrong, haven't been to Japan in years.
It would be interesting to see what kind of power the unbounded version is capable of.

You are probably right. I have heard that it is against the law in Japan for a motor to be above a certain HP. This is probably the reason why the numbers for this V12 is so low.

If you all look up the 5000gt (Supra) concept car is supoosed to have that motor with 500hp, I'm telling ya it was a F-1 derived motor, and has lots of potential, now if I can only get my hands on on...... HUMMMMMM
