Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "stupid clicking noise", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
What the hell is that stupid clicking noise under the hood? I just checked my exhaust, all sealed, headers need to be tightened i think, but I doubt that is where the noise is coming from. Any one know what it may be?
Ron

The most common cause is the Injectors opening and closing. Second, you have valve pucks having too much clearance.
In the Tundra, the timing belt idler pulley had a problem that would make a ticking sound.
In cold weather, and light acceleration you can hear piston slap. It's common in the Tundra, and Toyota says it won't hurt anything.
two possible causes aswell are ground strap placement and/or cracked exhaust manifold. Check the searches for these they have been adressed before. As for my truck I have no ticking . good luck
when installing aftermarket exhausts,Volant said that if u heard clicking noises from your engien u should use super unleaded gas.I see you have a instake so that might be the problem.
