The stock cold air intake all our trucks were delivered with is the best for the money.

If money isn't the object, one of the aftermarket intakes which only improve hp above 3500 rpm (or whatever) works.

Don't you already have the K&N FIPK, greybeards22 ??

If you add the RAPS kit to the stk set up, you'll very pleased....It will also give the K&N an added boost in the lower rpms if used w/that set up. JB

Hey Sherwin,

If you are talking about power @ higher rpms (3000 and over...) for freeway driving, like passing or getting on the freeway, then for $75.00 the K&N is Ok.
I have all the passing power I need w/the FIPK w/filter wrap, RAPS, JBA y-pipe and now the Spin Tech muffler. The tranny downshifts to second from 65mph but doesn't d/s to second after 70. I can go from 60-65 to 90 real fast... I'll see what the JBA headers will do for me in a 2 weeks.

How many miles do you have on the truck ? Have you had a tune up ? You might clean the throttle body if you haven't yet.

I don't think waiting for an aftermarket intake that will blow away the present models will be doing you any good. You'll have to accept that if you go with an intake, you'll gain in the mid to high rpms but lose in the lower rpms. If you go w/bigger tires soon, you'll want all the low end you can get or keep..... JB

Ive only had my truck since May. I got it second hand from a family friends' used car dealership. I bought it with 31,780k and now it has 36k miles. I dont know if its had a tune up or not. The only reason why I brought up this K&N thing is that since I got my exhaust, My truck's been feeling really restrictive on the freeway. If Im at 55mph, when I step on it- It only goes to 58mph rather than 65mph stock. I thought that I would have got more flow at higher speeds with the muffler.

Take a look @ your air filter and pull out a spark plug. If the filter is dirty and the plug is dirty looking, then I'd try changing them out at the very least.

Are you saying that when you step on it @ 55mph, you truck just climbs to 58mph w/the new muffler ? Or does it take more time to climb to 65 than before ? I already feel the difference between the FM and the ST mufflers at 125 miles on the new ST. I don't know why you're not getting better results w/a muffler that is race proven. I know that Spin Tech themselves stated to me that they didn't recommend the Pro Streets for the Tundras......

I'll give you my FM 40 if you want to change mufflers.......

Is there better power at the lower rpms than before ? What differences do you feel besides the lack of go @ 55 ? JB

Iv'e had the muffler on for about 320+ miles on now. Off the line it feels the same. The funny thing is that When I step on it at about 20mph, Then needle fly's to 40 mph in a few seconds, but i dont feel like Im going any faster. The sounds great and all, but Im confused. .

Long story short, it just feels a tad restrictive.
