Default Oil analysis of Royal Purple 10w30 @ 7500 miles

Hey Guys,

Thought I’d post my oil analysis results for my 7500 mile oil change on Royal Purple 10w30 oil, in case anyone was considering going w/RP. The lab tech stated that I could go 10,000 miles on the oil w/no problems.

Here are 3 reports. One @ 10K, 15K & 22.5K miles. The first 2 analysis’ used RP 10w30 and the cheaper Toyota oil filter. The last one used RP 10w30 and a K&N Gold oil filter. For all 3 tests, I had my K&N FIPK intake w/the filter wrap installed for the last 2 tests.

NOTE the improvement of the contiminants (Silicon) after I used the filter wrap. I strongly urge anyone w/a K&N FIPK or similar intake get a filter wrap for it. It will actually make the intake work a little better due to a 10% reduction of airflow...

Hey File014,

RP is a full synthetic. NOT a blend of dyno and syns.

I've seen it @ NAPA Auto Parts stores for under $6.00 a qt.

I buy mine in a 5 gallon jug @ Racing Superstore for $103.75 delivered to So.Kali. http://shop.store.yahoo.com/racingsu...pursynmot.html

Check out this site for any kind of oil ?'s...http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/

Not a good showing for RP, IMO. This on an engine that hardly shows any wear metals.

Once has to wonder how much diff. using RP or M1 or any other syn really makes if you change your oil/filter regularly.

I feel that the oil filter is only one part of the equation. Oil quality is important unto itself... between OCI's.

Compare with these results. They are more typical of this engine, even when the engine is newer:
