Default TRD or Borla Dual exhaust

Which type of exhaust is better- Is there a real difference- both are 304 stainless steel- Is this just a price issue or what? If I install a catback system, should I install headers. Some of you guys are in the know. Please advise.
Thanks
David

The TRD cat back exhaust IS made by Borla. I think It just costs more but I sure like the TRD tips and I would go with the headers for sure no question about it.

I think the trd tips are square which look better to me also- not sure though-
Does anyone know where the best price for either of these exhaust systems can be found.
Thanks!

Neither!! Get a Magnaflow with the same size diameter piping.

Let me give you some advice. Unless you wanna get a bolt on Stainless steel exhaust for around $700, get the borla or trd. Depends on where you live though, If there is a lot of salt/snow in your area, get the SS. But if there isnt, go with aluminum-its lighter. The only advantge from SS(besides rust prevention) is the looks. Dont get the TRD unlesss you want the QUIETIST exhaust out there. I think that any exhaust over $700 is not worth it. Ive heard nothing but good on the Borla; sound, perfromance, and then some. But Magnaflow is the same straight through design as borla, but cheaper. I dont want to argue here, but its the same.

Here is my advice though- Get a Magna flow muffler(there are different models for different sound) single in/dual out 2.25" with 2.25" size piping at the most. Run the 2.25" pipes through the back. I will show you the exhaust tips that looks IDENTICAL to the TRD tips. With this, you get a aluminum dual magnflow exhaust with the TRD tips for a lot cheaper. Go to your local muffler shop and see what they can do for you.

I have a single outlet Spintech exhaust. Great performance, but not as loud as I wanted it. Since Im runnig 33's, I need the extra power. I guess my dream exhaust is a True dual flowmaster with 2 40 series "origanal flows" mufflers straight from a X crossover pipe. Strictly for sound though

on the contrary to what he just said if you want a loud exhaust get gibson dual.I have it installed in my truck and you can hear this thing from like 5 blocks down.Since I don't have my license yet,I drive to school but my parents drive it back.I can hear it from the red light next to the highway which is about a little over a quarter mile away. Its also very good performance wise.Since I installed the exhaust + my volant cool air intake,I can feel this thing when I floor.

I've had the Borla with split side exits for about 2 years now. You can't beat the stainless system for exterior endurance. The muffler and tailpipes/tips look just as new today, but that's the benefit you get from paying extra for SS. I'm not too crazy about the "pipe within a pipe" look of the tips. Unfortunately, that's the only tip available on the catbacks for the Tundra. I paid about $550 at summitracing.
I really like the TRD tips, but it's tough to find a good price on them. Sometimes Carson has deals on them.
Bassani is another good choice, but I'd shop around for price.

1spiffyTRD ....makes some good points regarding a custom made job.
I had a '94 Cobra that of course had true duals, but I replaced the stock exhaust with Flowmaster 3-chamber duals for about $250. Never had a problem with rust or deterioration over about 30k miles.
A couple of guys here in Texas have gone to true duals and paid around $200-250 for the change.
Headers? Personally, I don't think it's worth the investment. I'm not convinced that for the $$, you get enough hp/torque improvement over stock. I would probably tend to agree with headers if you were changing the entire exhaust system from the headers on back as a true dual system, but definitely not with a single muffler catback system.
I channeled "headers" money into XM receiver, Alpine Amp and Infinity speakers. Now THAT's a stereo performance upgrade that you can definitely notice!

save your money for headers, just switch out your mufflers (cheaper alot cheaper). If you want TRD tailpipes, STEVE G @ CARSON TOYOTA sells them.
