There is a new 7th injector kit out now from TRD. It'll Cost you around $1200, give a claimed 20% better performance, and take care of the lean conditions caused by the s/c. Go to the TRD website for more info.

Sounds like a necessity if you're going to spend the dough for the S/C then!

I think the 7th injector thing is a RIPOFF $1200 for only 15hp thats how much a guy over at customtacos.com gained.

Who ever told you it was only 15HP needs his/her head examined. You cannot feel 15hp, this kit is more like a 40HP gain, that you CAN FEEL in the seat of your pants.
I have installed 3 of the 7th injector kits in various Tacoma V-6's.
The difference is NIGHT & DAY!!!!. It turns the truck into a monster. You might even think you have a V-8 under the hood. These trucks will pull all the way to the redline, very very quickly ,then when you shift gears they are pulling still.
Until you have installed or driven one, dont be to hard on making a decision. I was a little sceptical at first until i did the first one and now I am hooked and am telling everyone i have installed S/C's on to do the upgrade. It is a tad pricey i agree, but the instructions are very well written and it does not take more that a few hrs to install. The seat of the pants feel is INCREDIBLE!!!
Just my thoughts
Take care
VICTOR
p.s no they dont ping anymore! not even here in Vegas.

That 's my thought exactly. I'm selling my Tundra and going back to a Tacoma. The Tundra is just too much truck for me. The first thing I am doing is buying another s/c and getting the 7th injector kit. I had a s/c on my 01 Tacoma and it rocked...I can't wait to feel the 7th injector setup.

Mustang, have you had any follow up with any of the guys who installed the 7th injector? I've been mulling this upgrade, but am curious about how bad it effects your gas mileage. I went from 20mpg on the highway to 22 after the S/C and I'd rather not have the mileage drop down to what the v8's are getting.

Ill try to get a hold of my buddy tommorow and post his findings.
I cant see the mileage dropping to far, unless you into the throttle.
The 9th injector on my tundra didnt drop the mileage i get, so i dont see it dropping it in the taco's.

9th injector? You must have a V8 then?

OK, i talked to 2 of the guys i did the 7th injector upgrade too.

The first guy has a AUTOMATIC 4wd D cab- his mileage went down maybe 1-2 mpg, but to him the power increase justifies this. He drives the truck WOT most of the time anyway. The pinging has gone away completly, and the power is always there throughout the power band and pulls all the way to the revlimiter. The transmission also does not hunt for a gear when he is on the FWY.

The 2nd guy has a MANUAL 4wd D cab- His mileage has not changed at all.
He also say the pinging is gone, and the power is just incredible.

Truthfully anyone with a S/C should not worry to much about MPG.
The more you use the S/C , the more fuel your going to use.

As for the SC, I don't have one. I can't have one. Victor confirmed my '96 ECU will not recognize the added blower and cause many problems... '97 + '98 T100's can use the SC, they have a different ECU.
Anyway, that's $4K I can spend on other mods
Bummer on the S/C incompatability.

I like the bumper on your V8 Longbed though!

Talking V6 is now SC'd

Just had the supercharger installed today. Dealer install(warranty purposes) took 4 hours. The test drive after picking it up was definitely fun, can't wait to see it after the ECU adjusts. No pinging whatsoever, maybe it helped that I already started running premium gas ahead of time. I was a little concerned about the "rattle" to be expected at idle, but it is actually nice and quiet, even under normal driving. Then with a heavy foot inserted that whine kicks in and I really know it's there. Power already is impressive. It will be a while before I can compare MPG, I know I killed my mileage for this tank just having fun with the new toy, but I will mellow out back to normal, after all these are new tires on here and my main purpose was to get more pull for occasional towing (at least that's how I justified it from my mind to my wallet) Total cost was $2110
