This is a discussion thread titled "3.4L V6 TRD Superchargers", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Man I can't wait till I am S/C ,but I am still debating on which s/C I should go with the ATI Procharger or TRD but that won't be until summer 04.
For now I waiting on the SSautochrome headers and the Unichip PnP for the V6 and an e-fan.

You have an automatic v6? And warranty concerns are regarding the supercharger warranty, or the warranty of the truck? What is the expected output boost from the s/c?

Do you mind getting track times? I would like to know how they run compared to the V8.

It is an automatic. Warranty concerns were mainly that being dealer installed it is covered even under my extended service contract. That and hopes that I have covered my rear in that TRD says that nothing needs to be done to the transmission, and I am not in the position to have the down time to send in the valve body to be reworked. I will still add a trans cooler soon. According to the book expected boost is 7 psi. I have the K&N drop in filter, and totally stock exhaust, wishing that headers were as easy to come by for this as the V8. Kills me to see ssautochrome on ebay so inexpensive all the time.
As for track times, I'm quite curious as well, but to do that I would need to pull my lumber rack, and likely swap wheels so unfortunately that isn't likely to happen in the immediate future, but who knows, having driven the V8 4x4, let's just say again, yep I'm quite curious of the comparison.
If you ever end up going to the track let me know. I think it would be fun to see what kind of numbers mine could post. It would provide a good comparo between the SC V6 and a V8. Is there even a track around here?

Problem being they already ended for the season. Probably not until next Spring. Probably about an hour from you.

I would not rush to install headers, or for that matter do anything to the exhaust side.
Save your $ and wait for the 7th injector kit to be Tundra certified.
How about some pictures?

Just had the supercharger installed today. Dealer install(warranty purposes) took 4 hours. The test drive after picking it up was definitely fun, can't wait to see it after the ECU adjusts. No pinging whatsoever, maybe it helped that I already started running premium gas ahead of time. I was a little concerned about the "rattle" to be expected at idle, but it is actually nice and quiet, even under normal driving. Then with a heavy foot inserted that whine kicks in and I really know it's there. Power already is impressive. It will be a while before I can compare MPG, I know I killed my mileage for this tank just having fun with the new toy, but I will mellow out back to normal, after all these are new tires on here and my main purpose was to get more pull for occasional towing (at least that's how I justified it from my mind to my wallet) Total cost was $2110
Where did you order the supercharger from? Cheapest i found was $2000.00. So if toyota installs the sc it would be covered under the factory warranty? If this is true it would be great. I have heard that you get better gas mileage if you dont get on it, is this also true?
Just curious, how many of you V6 owners have SuperChargers on your Tundra's?
You guy's are lucky. The Tundra V6 SC has far less issues than the V8 SC.
The V6 SC has had almost 10 years of consumer use.
They have been updated 3 or 4 times now.
And you will soon (I hope) be able to use the 7th injector kit
I wish the ECU in my T100 was compatible...
Maybe I should trade the T100 for an older 4WD V6 Tundra.
Did/do they offer this combination?

I did throw a few pics in my photos. I have an email to TRD asking for any info on the 7th injector for the Tundra so we'll see what they say, the only pinging at all has been under very slight acceleration at 60-65 mph in overdrive, such as a slight uphill while tooling down the highway. I can not get it to ping any other time, not that I would want it to, but just testing the waters. As for exhaust/headers I am holding up a bit to see if ssautochrome will start producing them since JBA says NO. But I'm sure some upgraded exhaust would be in order to balance out the extra intake.
I purchased the SC through ebay, through a NY dealer. He has sold a number of them on there most going for around $2000. The last three he has sold were $1700-$1725 plus $50 delivery. Mine $1750 to the door. Factory sealed, taped, stapled box, very pleased.
Definitely falls within engine/drivetrain warranty if dealer installed, 12 months unlimited miles if self installed. With extended service contract mine is covered for almost 4 more years. Well worth the $360 install price IMO. Gas mileage? we'll see. I "played" with the remainder of the existing tank and am driving normal this tank to get some comparison.
Fairfield Toyota, where I bought the truck. One of the service managers there I've gotten to know fairly well made sure that there shop foreman did the install for me. They did a very nice job. In the past there I had some problems with water pump replacement that 6 visits later it was finally all done correctly without belt noise or oil leaks etc. so for this he made sure his top guy took care of me.
