Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "3.4L V6 TRD Superchargers", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Just read this while linking to it for another thread. The bypass really only has 1 hose. The other hose actually passes below it, just looks that way in the pic.
Man I can't wait till I am S/C ,For now I waiting on the SSautochrome headers and the Unichip PnP for the V6 and an e-fan.
If I were you, I'd skip the headers, unichip, and electric fan for now. No sense in spending the money on things that won't make that much of a difference in performance in your current set up. All three of those items will cost around $1500..might as well spend the money on the TRD S/C which will make a difference in your performence. I only speak from experience with my Tacoma..in which the s/c was the last thing I did. If I go back to a Tacoma...I'll go with the TRD S/C, 7th injector, cat back, then call it quits. Just my $.02 worth.

I didn't wait. Not sure how long it will be for the 7th injector to be released for the Tundra. Was just told to check back in February of next year. Doesn't mean it will be released then. I think they were more concerned with the 7th injector for the Tacomas for more severe pinging problems. I only get minimal pinging while cruising 60-65 in overdrive sometimes. The rest of the time I have no pinging at all.

When it comes to getting the 7th Injector install, how does it connect to the Supercharger, or, they are not directly connected except for maybe a black box and cables? Who has information about this item, specially on the technical aspect of it.

The 7th injectr bolts to the s/c where the egr plate is next to the throttle body. There is a fitting to tap into the fuel line, and the kit comes with a steel braide fue hose to complete the connection. Then you have to run wires ino the harness and into the cab to the new ecu. It is a simple install. Once you know where everything goes.
What else ya wanna know? I have done 5 of these upgrades so far, all of the people are 100% satisfied, and love the extra power.

I can go ahead get the S/C install now and later add the 7th Injector. The way you explained the installation of the 7th injector, it can be added later without any major problems. Anyhow, I can always visit you in Las Vegas to get the 7th Injector install
Who ever told you it was only 15HP needs his/her head examined. You cannot feel 15hp, this kit is more like a 40HP gain, that you CAN FEEL in the seat of your pants.
I have installed 3 of the 7th injector kits in various Tacoma V-6's.
The difference is NIGHT & DAY!!!!. It turns the truck into a monster. You might even think you have a V-8 under the hood. These trucks will pull all the way to the redline, very very quickly ,then when you shift gears they are pulling still.
Until you have installed or driven one, dont be to hard on making a decision. I was a little sceptical at first until i did the first one and now I am hooked and am telling everyone i have installed S/C's on to do the upgrade. It is a tad pricey i agree, but the instructions are very well written and it does not take more that a few hrs to install. The seat of the pants feel is INCREDIBLE!!!
Just my thoughts
Take care
VICTOR
p.s no they dont ping anymore! not even here in Vegas.

Hey VICTOR,
Please take a look at THIS and tell me what you think. Also,
Is the 7th injector for the Tundra still set for a Feb. '04 release?

Honstly I just removed $1500 worth of aftemarket stuff (ecu, injectors, fmu, ect>) from a buddy of mines truck. He couldnt wait until he 7th inj came out. He had nothing but program problems, bad gas mileage, melted catalytic converters. I talked him into the 7th injector upgrade on the premis , that if he didnt like it , I WOULD BUY IT FROM HIM. I know i could sell it easly. Well it is still on his truck and running great.
Dont forget I am a company man. Toyota & TRD have done there homework.
I figure if ya wanna go fast, really fast you have to plan a package not just bolt on stuff, Gas mileage who cares! Most people wanting more power want MPG also. I think TRD has done the best of both worlds.
Just my (.02)
sorry for rambling.
Victor
p.s. some people have good luck with aftrmarket parts
I am just not 1 of them

Ramble on...
That URD kit you looked at is for a pre '97 T100.
You told me before that I should not install
an SC on my '96 T100. I have not.
My question; With your background and knowledge,
will this kit enable the SC to work as advertised on a pre '97?
Thanks -

Let me do some research and talk to my buddy who had the aftermarket stuff. Ill see what he said they told him. He might want to sell his old stuff too. Ill ask him how much $$$ and if it will work?
If you havnt heard from me by next monday
e-mail me a reminder mustang67408@cox.net
Ill try to dig up some answers.
But from what i remember, The toyota ecu's in the older models can not handle the s/c because they are to slow to accept all the inputs and make changes quick enough to prevent a hesitation and ping.I'll look into it a bit.
You should call that company and see what they say. The aftermarket ecu taps into the factory one, it doesnt replace it.
Victor
p.s the injectors they are using, are the same size as a TURBO SUPRA. HUGE
lots of fuel, he got 6 mpg best.
