I have an 02 tundra v6. I was wanting to get a s/c for it and install it myself. Im kind of a perfectionest when it comes to my vehs so all of the maintance I do myself (trans, brakes, oil, etc) Do u know if the s/c is a pain to install or can a DIYer do it at home with simple hand/air tools? Thx
Do it yourself dude. My wife and I installed mine. Its really easy if you follow the instructions. If I'm not mistaken there were no special tools needed and a simple ratchet set would work. I started mine about 7:00pm and finished just before 2 am. but included dinner, some TV and trying to teach my wife about tools . Trust me, its easy.
i have a 1996 T100 with the first generation supercharger and its making a loud rattling noise at idle. anybody know where i can get it rebuilt? what's the difference between the first generation and the second generation supercharger. will the second fit my T100??
THE HISTORY:
First time poster, long time reader, here and elsewhere. I have about 50K of 60K total on my '01 Tacoma using the SC, TRD Headers, and exhaust, as well as K&N FIPK (got it before I'd read about the deck plate mod, before you ask... LOL)
Have had the lean out and low RPM / high load ping situations since I first had all this stuff installed years ago. Even with cooler plugs and thermostat. I guess I (A.) got used to it and (B.) got older and stopped mashing the throttle so much. I think I've been comparatively lucky in reading about some horror stories here. I just had the cats replaced because they were burned out, luckily under warranty as cats are warranted longer and separately from the rest. I figure that now is a good time to buy the URD Fuel Upgrade Kit, before I fry another set of cats, O2 sensors, or do more hidden damage to the engine.
THE Q'S :
I've always known I'd get a fuel mod and until now was pretty set on the 7TH Injector. The warranty thing is no longer an issue with me so I'm now leaning toward the URD kit. I'd like an update on how this mod is working for folks and what kind of power boost I can expect - Especially since I have headers, etc. I thought I'd read the 7TH Injector will put out an additional 40HP? - Seems a lot. Will I notice a 'rear wheel HP/seat of your pants' performance upgrade with URD, or will it mostly just fix the fuel delivery problems?
Also, any updates on CA smog cert issues? Mine's up for one this year, and I don't want to get caught and have to remove it all.
Lastly, is there anyone in SoCal who might be able to help me tune it, and or install? I'm an apprentice diesel mechanic at work, but until they can get train engines in cars...
P.S.,
I did use the search function - A lot, I'm asking for new data, it seems many / most of those posts are a couple years old, when these mods were relatively new.

THe power from the URD kit is noticeable albeit not as noticeable from stock to the supercharger. It really depends on how well you can tune. If you have a good tune I know Gadget has been known to get about 45 extra RWHP out of this kit...(amazing). The main reason you want this kit is to make your engine as reliable as the day it rolled off the toyota assembly line.
Basically it goes like this...you are adding extra air to a system that is completely maxed out with the stock injectors. They arent made to handle the amount of fuel needed to prevent a verrrry lean situation with the addition of the supercharger. Not to mention the fuel pump isnt able to supply the amount of fuel required. WIth this you get pre detonation or spark knock which occurs when the piston is thrust back down before it reaches the top of its cycle due to the early combustion.
I have had my URD kit on for a couple of years now and it has worked flawlessly. I even went with a smaller pulley to make more boost and just tuned accordingly. Im sure with the fact that you are in Socal that there are plenty of speed shops capable of tuning your truck. All you need is a wideband sensor and an OBD II reader to tell if the computer is in open or closed loop and the AFR. THe kit also comes with a nvoel on how to tune properly.
So all in all...make your engine reliable and not grenade it after a year...GET THE URD KIT!!!

I'm totally confused. I've got a 1995 T100, 3.4 Man. Was planning on putting on the super charger. Then I finally read the instructions, find out, my truck isn't considered ok because of the ECU.
So I read 7 pages of threads, and I see 2 or 3 guys with s/c on pre 97 trucks. So can I, or can't I install this on a 95? Don't suppose anyone has come up with a way to put a 97+ ecu in the car. Or would a SAFC fix its issues?
If not, anyone wanna buy a long bed 95 with 92,000 miles on it? Runs perfect! Just need to sell for a 97+
