Default Is Toyota Phasing out the 3.4L V6?

I noticed the new 4Runner engine is a whompin' 4.0L V6 with more power than the 4.7L V8! Well Im sittin here with the 3.4L V6 feelin kinda wimpy. I love my truck, but will the 2004 or 2005 V6 tundras have the 4.0L? I'll feel shorted, like when the T100 went from the 3.0L to the 3.4L. I wouldnt care if the 4.0L had marginal improvement in numbers, but it absolutely WHOMPS!!! At least according to the numbers...

Don't forget when you're looking at those great horsepower numbers that you'll almost never get into that rpm range to take advantage of that power. In a way it's like "funny money".

What really matters is the HP and Torque in the 1,000 rpm to 3,500 rpm range. That's the range you'll run in and that's the range that it's really fair to compare apples to apples in the "real world".

What if I had a 400 hp v-6, but I had to be at 7,000 rpm to get there? When am I going to get even *close* to 7,000 rpm?

I dont have a tach, so I dont know what RPM's Im doing when I punch it. I do notice that as the engines winds up, it actually loses power when its about to shift, unlike a car which is ripping at that point of high RPMs. The 4.0L still has a lot more torque, at 280+ vs 220 for my truck.
