The way you guys describe it, as a sewing machine sounds, I believe is accurate for me also. I think this post would be a good place to keep track of whether or not it leads to long term problems or not. So if anyone has or gets any insight on whether our engines are "normal or not", let us know. I've got about 19K on my tundra right now. Other than this concern, I am completely satisfied with the tundra's performance. I've had it on-/off-road, running fast and empty, running fully loaded down, in any whether. Nothing's held it back yet!

Yes, exactly! I've thought of it as a sewing machine noise also. I don't know if it's a problem for long term reliability, but it sure is driving me nuts!

I think I might have the same thing. I would describe it as a sewing machine noise. Not sure if this is the same, but I just assumed it was normal.

I have about 30k miles on my truck, and about 2000 miles ago a similar problem developed. I have always had the cold engine knocking noises that a lot of people seem to have, but they went away once the engine warmed up. Not so this one - it's always there and sounds like valve noise. It's pretty loud between 1500-3000 rpm.

My dealer has been no help. First they claimed that there was no noise, and then later claimed it was normal. They haven't taken the problem seriously at all

So I don't have any conclusions yet, but I'm looking for a better mechanic that will spend some time diagnosing the problem. Then maybe I can pass along more useful info...

After the engine is completely warmed up, and I put it in park, I hear a consist light knock sound from the engine. Is this just the valves/lifters or has no one else heard this?
