David V,

I started a thread in the "I Force V8" forum called "Diesel Knock Tracking", keep us posted there with your developments if it is indeed the dreaded "knocking" noise. There's a small percentage of us with it. Best of luck.

Well, if it's not an exhaust/header leak, and if it's not severe pinging(unlikely) it could be 'piston slap' or 'wrist pin' noise.

Do a search in this forum and the iForce forum on 'piston slap' for more information.

Some people say piston slap is not a big deal, but I can't imagine that the piston banging around the cylinder can be good.
