I had the same problem - the squeak would go away after a truck warmed up or after a couple of minutes. I ended up leaving the truck at the dealer overnight with clear instructions that they were to listen to it at startup. They changed the tensioner and belt and the problem went away (that was about 20k miles ago). I have noticed recently that the squeal may be coming back. It seems to be off and on.

If you have a dealer that gives you the line that he hasn't heard of that problem before, have them call my dealer, they found my problem and fixed it!

i've had the belt squeal all winter. it only occurs when it's 45 or colder, with the warmer weather coming, how can i get the dealership to fix it if they can't diagnose it because they can't hear anything? the truck has to sit overnight and be started on a cold morning for the noise to occur. i'm at 45k miles and can't afford to wait till next winter (out of warranty) even if the noise doesn't occur when it's warm. how can i get them to fix it?

My 2000 Tundra had the belt noise mainly in the morning. It started with about 16K on the truck and it sounded like a bird was stuck in the fan. Dealer replaced the serpintine belt. No problem since.

I had the same problem on my 2000 Tundra about 20K ago. The dealer replaced the belt tensioner but the problem didn't go away. Returned and had the belt replaced. No problem since.

This has been a fairly common problem with the belts. My tensioner went bad quite a while ago (say 15,000 miles). They changed the tensioner under warantee (make sure you insist on a new belt as well since the bad tensioner could have adversely worn the belt). However, I've noticed recently that it appears the noise is starting to come back. I'm beginning to wonder if this is going to be a chronic problem.

I've had a squeek comming from the belts. I had taken it into the dealership a few times. Every time I took it in the noise would stop. I put some of that belt dressing on the belts, and the noise got louder! Took it to the shop again. The noise stopped! Finaly, they figured the noise was comming from the belt tensioner. They are going to replace it for me. Thank goodness!

My 06 does it too. Some belt dressing quietens it down for a few days but it comes back. Typically it is heard around 1200-1500 rpm and moreso on a cold engine.
