The recommended timing belt replacement interval is 90,000 miles for both the 4.7L V8 and the 3.4L V6. Note that the 4.7L V8 is an interference design. This means that if the timing belt breaks, piston to valve contact is likely which would result in significant and costly engine damage.

Here is some more info on timing belts: http://www.gates.com/brochure.cfm?br...ocation_id=540

In particular, check out the timing belt replacement guide at the bottom of the page (pdf file).

The answer is in the "paying only" zone. Perhaps someone could just post a simple "free" answer. Like "its 90K". I guess I could call the dealer this morning. Thanks in advance.
OOPs, Thanks TUNDRAVVT. I just saw your answer.

Hi all, I'm new to this board and hate to bother you with a simple question, but how you gonna' know unless you ask. I have a '99 Prerunner 3.4 that I just love, but need to buy a Tundra 4.7 for the added ability to tow my travel trailer. Just wondered, at what mileage are you supposed to replace the timing belt on the 4.7 engine. The question is related to a used Tundra I'm looking at. Thanks in advance.
