Angry Check engine light

My check engine light is on again on my 2000 V8 tundra @ 44K. The last time it came was around 30K and it was the left O2 sensor (before the catalyst) facing the front of the truck.

Is the sensors covered under the emmissions warranty and if so how long is the warranty?

If they are not covered. Can my local Autozone diagnose the truck for free and is the O2 sensors interchnageble because I may order one on-line opposed to purchasing it from the dealer?

Thanks

Oxygen sensors are covered by the Federal Emissions warranty (check your warranty booklet with the truck) which is 2 years/24,000 miles; however, since Toyota has a 3 year / 36,000 miles bumper-to-bumper warranty, the oxygen sensors fall within that warranty time frame. California has its own set of rules regarding emissions related components warranty with the O2 sensors having a warranty time period of approximately 50,000 miles (I forget the exact time/mile that they are covered but do remember it is between 36,000 and 80,000 miles - this is covered in the warranty booklet as well).

Yes, Autozone can diagnose your check engine light. No charge for the service here locally. And you can either get the universal sensor from Autozone or order the specific Denso O2 sensor from www.sparkplugs.com for about $56 shipped.

Lightbulb

Thanks arkie6 for the info. I reset the light by disconnecting the battery terminal but the light came back on within 20 miles or so. I will stop by autozone tomorrow to have the test ran. I'm assuming once I get the code I should be able to cross reference it to the correct O2 sensor, providing that is the problem.

Thanks for the website to order the sensor and hope I don't screw up my manifold while replacing it.
