wish i had real dyno numbers between trd,s&s longs, and ss autochromes
-ive got an idea -we have so many members here that we should get 2 trucks (members who can let us test on there truck) -all members interested can donate $ maybe $15 each and we can dyno a s/c truck and a stock one to see once and for all who's header is the best or at least where they make power respectivly--would this be so hard to setup? we could reward the test guys by giving them a header set we all paid for to compensate for there trouble- come on guys lets do this ill be the first to donate $ total cost would be 3 sets of headers -trd,s&s longs, and ss autochromes (didnt mention jba's cause they are so close to ss auto's) some guys to put on and take of the headers and $ for dyno time. tops would be $3000.00 including comp for the guys putting on the headers and doing the work - LETS DO THIS !
it may take 200 members or maybe less if we can save money but this is possible -lets ralley the troops and start a battle to see whos headers are king. hope tundrasoul rings in on this or any moderaters -

I already have dyno results of my 03 SC Tundra with the SS headers. They added about 9 hp if i remember correctly.

thanks for responding with some numbers -the idea i started this thread with was just out of pure frustration not being able to get tangible facts on what the headers true gains are from a dyno machine.
well - i didnt really understand the dyno numbers in your pic's although 9 h.p. sounds about right. by the way -nice garage full of yotas and even better yet was the dogs offer me your take on the header issue if you want d0truji seeing how you run same year truck. peace

Okay, here is my take on headers in general.
Let me start of by saying that I like the SS Autochrome headers, they are great and I have had NO problems with leaking and the performance is pretty good for the price. I added around 9 hp, some torque and some great sound for about $145.00. That's not a bad. I hear lots of talk about the S&S headers and how much better they are than the SS ones. I believe that they give better performance because of obvious reasons (they are longer). TRD is way overpriced and JBA seems just like the SS Autochrome ones at a higher price.
I think they all have their advantages and disadvantages. Anything is better than the stupid pipes that come stock. Trust me if you have any of these headers, you are better off than stock.

do you know if the stock manifolds are stainless? -trd are expensive but damn they are perfect and real nice looking-just primarys are to small imho-thanks again for your help.

I think the TRD's require welding and cutting, which sucks. If I get headers, I'm going S&S.

I think the JBA and SSautochrome headers are not as similar as they look. The JBA headers have 1-1/2” primaries and a directional cone in the collector that reduces turbulence. The SS headers have overly large 1-5/8” primaries and no directional cone in the collector. For this reason the JBA headers make more torque and more low-end torque than the SSautochrome headers do.
I’m going to get another Dyno run going in the spring and maybe we could have a tundra with a set of each header from each manufacturer there for a comparison. In fact I’d like to see a tundra with the long tube S&S headers put down more torque than I do.
