Angry Alternator died on new 04

hey

Just wanted to report that I have 3k miles on my 04 Tundra V8 ext cab. Two days ago I noticed the battery light on. I figured it was no big deal till it stayed the next day. I took it to the dealer and thy just called to tell me the alternator was BAD! Very frustrating seeing this is the reason I bought a NEW truck in the first place.

Should I be worried about any thing else here? Are there any 04 owners that ahve had the same problem?

I just got back from dropping my '03 off. Ive got under 9000 miles and my truck wouldnt start after sitting a couple of days in my garage. Starter just tick-tick-tick-tick and no turn over. Had to jump start it yesterday and today. Its probably just my battery, but Im not happy. What a royal PITA to go back to the dealer 2 days in a row, when its across town. It better be starting perfectly after tomorrow!

I think not. Bad alternators are about like bad starters...pretty darn rare IMO. I'd guess less then 1 in 1000. So you should be done with your bad experiance...and have smooth sailing ahead.

My 04 just hit 2k over the weekend with no starting problems. This is in mild CA weather though. Seems like the ones with the most problems are in cold climate.

I got the tow package which include the 130 or 140A alternator..........however looking at the website this "option" seems to be standard equipment anyways. What a joke.

I plan on adding an Optima batt so i dont spill and spray batt acid all over the engine compartment while off roading.
