Default SS Autochrome Headers

I just wanted to share this with other members. I participated in the GB for the SS Autochrome headers conducted last month. Got the headers and y-pipe at a very good price. SS Autochrome shipped the headers immediately! As soon as I received the headers, I shipped them off to High Performance Coatings, Inc. in Chandler, AZ (home office in Utah). Got them back from HPC and they looked excellent, except I noticed a split in one of the tubes (see pics). Now I'm thinking this can't be good. Took the header to a welder here in town and she didn't think it would be a problem since the weld on the tubes were a good, solid, deep weld. I still was a little hesitant, and didn't want to go through the pain of installing just to have it fail down the road. So, I contacted SS Autochrome thinking I would have an uphill battle to get something done.....quite the opposite! No hassle, no discussion, just an honest "That's not right, we are very sorry and will send you a new set today" Way to go SS Autochrome!!! Customer support at it's finest. Now, I'm thinking, I still need to get the new headers coated, I contact HPC, Inc. and low and behold, they say..."We'll do your new set for half price" no hassle, no argument, no grief. Thank-you Cory@HPC,Inc... I just wanted to share this with all of you to let you know that there are a few good companies out there that really want to take care of their customers!!! My hats off to these two companies

A very happy TS'er

Autochrome SS maybe a good company for problem resolution. However, a crack that big tells me they have poor quality control in place...they should be checking materials before shipping them out!!! and I guess you should be checking too because Autochromes oversight as well as yours just cost you 1.5X the money to get them coated!!!

I hear ya. You know, I inspected the headers before I shipped them off for coating and did not notice the split (as you said, it's a big crack , I mean split). I really can't say it was there before or not. I don't think so, but it could have been a fine hairline split that I didn't notice. I don't know what process HPC, Inc. goes through to prepare the headers for coating. I'm just happy with the outcome, because I didn't want to get into a finger pointing situation with SS Autochrome and HPC since I can't for sure say the split was there before. I'm happy with the outcome and I respect both companies for their reaction...guess that's all that matters. I could be sitting here with a set of coated headers that are worthless to me
