This is a discussion thread titled "Squealing Noise on 2004 Tundra DC 4wd", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Man, I love my Tundra DC. Nice truck. However, there is a squeaking noise coming from the back end that is driving me nuts. I lubed up the leaf springs and bushings thinking that was it. Nope. I retorqued every bolt I could find in the back as far as suspension components to make sure nothing was loose. All tight. Anybody have a clue what it might be. I was thinking maybe the tailgate is squeaking but I couldn't find any evidence that it was.

Is it a squeak that happens when you go over a bump? If so, good luck tracking it down. A lot of Tundras have had this problem (including mine), and it has been ascribed to anything from dirt between the leafs to c-clips on the leaf stack that were rubbing, to the top bushing of the shocks needing to be lubed. Everyone's had something different that worked for them to get rid of the squeak, at least for a little while. I've tried lubing the leafs, and even had the dealer replace the leafs under warranty, and the squeaking always eventually came back. I replaced the shocks around 60K, and the squeak mostly went away, so there may be something about the top bushing. But, then again, I don't pay much attention to it anymore...I'll listen for it and see if it's back...

I have not noticed any squeaks from my DC 4x4. Maybe check you spare tire and make sure that it is tight????
