--Much better cold flow so better lubrication before the engine gets warm...more a Minnesota concern than a Texas concern.
--Resistance to oil oxidation and other oil degradation from very hot operation.
--Thins less when very hot.
--Slightly better fuel mileage.
--Cleaner engine over the long term.
--Longer oil life...at least the full interval shown in your owner's manual

--PAO synthetics have higher film strength than conventional oils (including Group III "synthetics") for more engine protection.
I'd use 10W-30 oil in your Texas climate, and maybe an oil like Mobil 1 5W-40 "Truck & SUV" oil if you work the engine hard & hot. These probably give better protection after several thousand miles in the engine. The 5W-30 would be my cold winter choice.
