Engine & DrivetrainDiscussions about the engine and drivetrain of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "No Free Service (bad service oil change)", within the Engine & Drivetrain forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Background: Purchased a 2004 Doublecab from Ourisman Fairfax Toyota in Fairfax Virginia in November. Received Free Oil Service coupons for 3k, 10k, and 20k services.
Current Mileage: 10,780 Miles
So that should pretty much set the stage. I just completed my second "Free Oil Service" at Ourisman Chantilly Toyota ( a sister comany to the afforementioned) and to date have spent almost $1,000.00 to correct their errors and I'm still not done.
At the first oil service interval, they drove my truck too close to what apparently was a white object. The passenger rear fender flare was badly damaged. They only agreed to attempt to buff out the scratches so I wound up spending almost $450 dollars to purchase a new flare and have it painted.
Although I was warned by other colleagues after they lost quarts of oil from loose oil plugs their, I once again took my truck to that dealership for service.
Tonight, I just arrived home from the second "Free Oil Service", and after spending $132 dollars and waiting more than 2 days to get the truck back, I still have issues. Apparently they pulled the truck into the bay too sharply and pierced one of the sidewalls of the tires. The quote I recieved was that it was "like a straw piercing a telephone pole in a hurricane". How's that for quality service on a near 40K vehicle. In their efforts to mount the new tire they damaged the edge of the rim pretty badly. Now it looks like I will be stuck with another near $500 dollar corrective repair.
In addition, they could not find the issue with one of the problems I have reported which is the main reason that I am writing this thread. At highway speeds I have a high pitched wine that is alleviated by tapping on the brake monetarily. Has anyone heard of this yet?
Thanks,
Tim
p.s. Word of advise if you live in Northern Virginia. Stay away from Ourisman Chantilly Toyota.

I would document all of the problems, including photographs of the damaged parts, and then pursue the matter in small claims court if the dealer principal (Owner) will not fix your vehicle to YOUR satisfaction.
Get Toyota involved also. The squeeky wheel gets the grease. In this case, the dealer needs to be called to task. Service like this is BS!!!!!!!! Don't put up with it.
Holy Smokes, why are you letting them push you over like that? They damage the vehicle, it is definitly their responsibility and obligation to fix it, not make you foot a $450 bill. Time for a letter to corporate, this situation is no bueno
I took my truck to my dealer for an oil change. When I got back to the office I noticed the back right side of the truck had a quater size dent with the paint chiped off. I immediately contacted the dealer and took the truck back to them. They agreed to do anything at their cost to fix the problem. If I was in your shoes I would get Toyota involved.
Thanks for the feedback fellas. I had about an hour discussion with Toyota Corporate tonight and they were completely shocked with the information I gave them. They opened a case to begin an investigation. I sure hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.
I've purchased 2 4runners from Ourisman and had a scuff with them over valve noise in my 04 V6. Wrote a grump letter to Toyota (carefully documenting what was what) and Chantilly branch is falling all over itself to deal with me. As stated above, corporate is the biggest stick you can swing.
