Default SS Autocrap V6 pucker, which muffler?

My V6 SS Autocrap headers were installed today. Got bent over so bad on this deal that I may be sporting a permanent pucker. The muffler shop did a fanatastic job making these headers fit. Unfortunately it took 10 hours labor to get the job done. After seeing my shop's work, I'm convinced any V6 header for the 3.4 Taco can be made to fit the Tundra. Had I known this before, I'd have skipped the Autocrap headers and went with JBA or something else. Now my question is, which muffler to add to my stock exhaust pipe. I'm not wanting an overly loud or throaty muffler. I've heard a longer muffler is more mellow than a short one. After doing a search on V6 recommendations, I couldn't find anything that wasn't more than a year old. Any advice would be appreciated.

Id say put a 50 series Flowmaster on. That will sound good off the bottom then dissapear in noise after 3k. A Magnaflow will do the oposite, mellow off the bottom and rasp in high pitch off the top.

This is EXACTLY the info I've wanted to know as well - and it makes perfect sense! Seems that everybody talking mufflers here has a V8 and can only attest to what they've done - or what "might" work on the V6.

Since I'm dumping a ton of $$ in my rear end/LSD right now, I'm just that much farther away from headers and exhaust, but I might make the muffler my next step anyway. I can always save the headers for when I get a S/C!

Thanks - Jeff

I have a V6 Tundra and had the headers put in not too long ago. I am currently running the Flowmaster Delta 40 series and love them. With the stock exhaust most people thought I had the V8.

After the headers were installed, it was that much harder to tell if I had the V8 or V6. Even the guys at the local drag strip here thought that I had the V8. And these are guys who should be able to tell just by hearing the engine if its a V6 or V8.

The part about too loud or not is kinda hard to judge. Every person has a different idea of whats loud or not. I personally love the way the truck sounds now. I have had so many compliments about the sound that if it wasn't for the fact that the headers weren't completely "Bolt-on", I would be happy. I am slowly getting over that though. I am still running the Delta 40 series mufflers and I also took out the cat. So far there are no "Check Engine" lights. Too loud.....no. Like I said, I love the sound .
