Default Remote Oil Filter in 2005 Tacoma V6?

I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to actually look at the 4.0L V6 in the '05 Tacomas? I know it is the same V6 as the 4Runners now have, but I am wondering if the Tacomas will have the remote oil filter like the 4Runners do? I noticed it the other day on a friends 4Runner. It will make changing the oil so much easier. The remote filters are on the drivers side of the top of the motor just behind the radiator.

Yes, if my memory serves me correctly I remembered seeing the oil filter in the same location as the 4Runner after looking at shots of it on a recent episode of MotorWeek.

To me, a remote filter is connected to the engine with hoses. However, it seems that you are describing what is in the '05 Tacoma. The filter is in the the upper left (driver's perspective) front corner of the engine. I have never seen a filter which was so easy to reach. It is in an aluminum holder shaped to catch spills. What a very nice design!

was this an after market add on? i just purchaseda 1990 camry w a 4cyl.
the engineers were eat up with stupid on this one. they mounted the oil filter in front opening down. so the only way not to spill the oil all over the engine is to turn the car turtle up. this little car has had some one else changing the oil and i am sure the oil change place never cleaned up the spill and let it spray back all over the bottom of engine. it appeared that there is an oil leak when it fact it was spillage.

so where do i get one?

Drain the oil overnight. That way alot of the oil flows back into the engine. Then in the morning when you remove the oil filter, oil won't spill out over everything.
