Default Anyone tried 2000-2004 cat back on '05 tundra?

I had a Borla split side cat back system on my '00 tundra, would like to install one on my '05. They look the same from underneath after the cats as far as I can tell. Has anyone tried putting an exhaust on an '05 tundra yet? I sent an E-mail to borla and they said they hadn't seen the new truck yet.

If your not dead set on the Borla system, you can take it to a muffler shop and have a custom made system regardless of the year model.

Is the TRD Borla exhaust mod void the factory warranty?
Can you get this in a single side exit?

TRD & Borla are 2 different exhaust systems. Read Aftermarket Parts & Vehicle Warranty regarding warranties.

I have no idea on the '05. But yes you can get a Borla in single side exit, and they are a lot cheaper, don't know if they work as well though. I did order one for my '03, so when they ship it in a few weeks i'll let you know, any borla says it wont hurt the warranty.

I also figured worst case I could get the borla and if it didn't fit perfectly I could have someone cut or weld a pipe to make it fit. I really liked the borla on the old truck - perfect sound, and I liked the split side exit tips.

The other problem is that I have not ever had any muffler shop around here do any good work. I went and had the resonator taken out of my old truck and had to go to two different places to have the pipe re-welded because of leaks. So I think this time I will leave the resonator in place - even though it sounded better without it. I heard that it is hard to weld stainless to aluminized steel or something. I think the first place that did it used the wrong kind of pipe.

I see your point of view. If there arent any reputable shops in your area, your wise not to take it there.

Often times, the stainless exhaust systems are a thinner gauge than the alluminized parts and therfore penetrate faster. A skilled welder can handle it.
