2003 Limited in need of headers

looking for some suggestion about afterr market headers for my 2003. any suggestiopns. ihave read the S info, looks appealing. questions that come to mind are:
Exact replacments - any and all suggestions
Coating - chrome, heat coated, porcelain?
Any one have a schematic or pictorial relative ot an installation./
do the stock header heat shields need to remain after installion of an aftermarket set

Bob: If you're in California, I think the only CARB approved are JBA's. I'm guessing you have a V8? Since the factory heat shields have to be removed, coating is suggested, if just to keep heat down in the engine bay. Hope that helps.

I just put JBA's on my '03 Limited 2 weeks ago. I got them with the titanium coating. I can really tell a big difference in the performance of the truck. I was gone this week working and my wife took the truck out for a spin That was her first time in it since I had done put them on. She, well actually the kids, told me she was doing 95 mph merging onto the interstate. She said she didn't realize she was going that fast and was blown away by how quickly and effortlessly the truck accelerates now. The problem now is she wants me to do the upgrade to her 4 runner now!! As an FYI, I purchased mine from Summit Racing. Best price I could find at the time. Good Luck

Bob,
I worked on it myself so it took me longer than most. I estimate it took me somewhere around 9-11 hrs. However, I didn't get into any hurry. I also lost some time because I cross threaded a stud when trying to put the new nut on :cry: You DEFINITELY will need at least 2 feet of socket extensions. Also need to have socket swivels in order to get to the hard to reach nuts. Everyone suggested and I agree that 6 pt sockets work the best. You run the risk of rounding off the nuts if you use the 12 pt ones. The nuts are 14mm. You will need a mid well one to get to the nuts that are over the motor mounts. I found one at Advance Auto by Ampro that worked great. It was 1 3/8" long. Also be sure to use penetrating spray on all the nuts and let them soak prior to trying to take them off. This will save you a lot of aggrevation. Hope this helps.
