Default Tranny differences 2000 vs. 2001 Tundra

Hi,

Sorry in advance if this is a completely asinine question...

Any advice on what I need to do to get a 2000 tundra tranny into a 2001 truck? (both V8 2WD)

My transmission blew up yesterday (culmination of a long list of transmission problems), and since I have no job and therefore a very limited income, I'd like to fix this as cheaply as possible. I have a line on a 2000 transmission, and my assumption (which may be completely wrong) is that since the 2000 and 2001 trucks are virtually identical, the trannys should be swappable without too many modifications.

So, the questions that come to mind:
-Did they use the same transmissions in all of the 2000 V8 2WD 4-Runners and Tundras?
-Are there different transmission mounts/driveshaft lengths/etc that wouldmake the swap difficult?
-Any other issues?

Thanks,
-Mike

If I were you, I would call my local Toyota dealer and ask them up to what year fits in your truck. You might be able to go up to an 02. They will be able to tell you.
