I'm planning to replace my muffler on 04 DC..just want a deeper sound than stock. Should I keep the resonator or dump it....Will it be to loud to dump the resonator?
From everything I've read here at TS... as well as... having been told the same... in a thread which, I started regarding exhaust... you'd better keep the resenator! By doing so... it helps... I'm told... in reducing or even preventing that "dreaded 2000 RPM drone"... that everybody talks about!
I too have a DC... and I've also got plans in the works for exhaust changes... and... I "entend" to keep my resenator.

I replaced the muffler on my 04 DC with a flowmaster delta 50 series. Happy with the result, though some would prefer louder. Keep the resonator. Stick with 2.5" in/out.

newbie..
you do understand that there is a search feature on this web site,
dont you?
a million posts have been on this "muffler" subject.
if you want power then do this.........
keep/dont touch the stock y pipe.
if you dont want the "drone" then keep/dont touch your resonator.
spintech offers good results from what ive heard and they offer them in stainless steel. GL
i cut my resonator off.......and my truck is pretty loud without it, but thats the way i like it...... the guy who put my flowmaster on adviced me to drive around for a week with the resonator still on and said if i wanted it louder to come back and hed take it off......i just said cut it off

Everybody has thier own sense of loud and mild. Whats loud to you may be quiet to me. On my 04, I cut all the exhaust off behind the Y and eliminated the resonator. Im running 3" tubing from the Y all the way back with a pro street Spintech which is a small muffler, maybe a foot long and 8" across. Its fairly loud but not obnoxious(to me). IT drones, but that doesnt bother me. As it is, i have the stereo up on 50 with a sub and amp on top of that.
Its all about what your comfortable with. IF you can, find someone with a Tundra like yours and listen to it, and go for a ride if they let you. Then youll have a good idea, rather than guessing.
