Default 05 tacoma 4.0 problem?

my x runner makes a tink sound. when diving you can hear it under the rumble of the exhaust, and it is proportional with rpm. it is very noticable at idle outside the truck. pop the hook and its even louder. sounds like an old cars injector tick. maybe leaky manifold? any other cure this problem? or have it? its not going to the dealer until its broken in at least................jon

i searched this as well, but i didnt find any pertanant information.

It could be a number of things. First thing to do is isolate the problem. If you think theres a chance it could be the manifolds, let the engine idle and check them. If they are not leaking, thats one less area to consider.

If this is something that has developed after you bought the truck id deffinitely take it to the dealer.

You should go to www.customtacos.com and look in their forum. They have a whole section dedicated to the s-runner and x-runner.
