Default Hesitant, slushy 1-2 shift

I've got a 2000 V8 4WD and I've noticed that it takes much longer to execute the 1-2 shift at 1/2 to fulll throttle than it used to. I took it to the dealer (Appleway Toyota) and they told me I was imagining things. I drove a friend's truck which is identical to mine (it's even the same color), and it shifts like mine used to. It appears that 1st disengages on time and 2nd engages late so the RPMs actually increase as the shift is executing. I've got headers and an intake kit so the sound of the engine during the slushy shift is very noticible.

I'm going to head back to the dealer and argue with them. Before I do that, I'd like to know if anyone else has had this problem. If so, what did your dealer do about it?

My truck goes out of warrenty in 4K miles so I want to get this fixed soon. If Appleway won't do it, I'll drive up to the dealer that I bought it from (1.5 hours away) and see what they'll do. Has anybody else had this problem?

Thanks for your help.

The computer controls the shifting and on mine it never does it the same way twice! It sounds like you may have a failing transmission, but one thing you might do is pull the battery cable for a while to reset the computer. If that makes it start shifting like a new truck, the trans might be OK. It wouldn't cost you anything to try it.

Resetting the computer is a good idea. It's a long shot but it's worth a try. I'll do that tomorrow and I'll post if it works.
