The ECU on the 05's is under the dash... the grey wire mod might not work.

Default Tacoma Differential Question

On my last truck (93 pickup 3.4 V6), I did the mod to extend the differential breathers up higher. That way now water gets in there when I'm launching a boat on the beach.
Has anyone gotten under the '05 and looked at the diffs? Would they need the same type of mod for deeper water? I've heard that on late 90's/early 00's tacomas, the front diff was extended, but not the back.

Anyone done any water crossings or boat launching with their '05?? What else on these is vulnerable to deep water??

Thanks in advance

I forgot which site I was looking at, but apparently someone tried the diff. breather extension on their 05 and it worked. He used the same part # as the older models used for this mod.

Default 1995 Tacoma differential type

Does anyone know what type of differential is in the 1995.5 Tacoma? I know the locking diff feature was not offered until 1996, so does that make the 1995 a limited slip or open diff?

ARB is really good, but I wouldn't say they are any better then the TRD. The ARB is air actuated and requires an on board air compressor to work, not to mention they are really $$$$$. The TRD is an electric locker, just as durable and costs a lot less.
